Racing in the Powder Puff Derby

*Update* Head over to www.girllovesdiy.com to print out a customized license.

The Boy Scouts compete in the Pinewood Derby every year. Our local Boy Scouts graciously allowed our girls to hold their own Powder Puff Derby on their track. We started with the official Pinewood Derby car kit. Andie and Mark (mainly Mark) worked on the design. Once the design was cut, Andie had to sand, paint, and design her car.  We were as hands-off as possible.

The final car had a coat of glitter modge podge for fanciness.

Racing Day!

The girls had to bring their Powder Puff Drivers license on Racing Day.

After everyone arrived, they got their racing order and watched the Boy Scouts finish up their races. The designs on all of the girls cars were sparkly, creative, and fun.

Of course Charlotte was there to support her sister, and she had a great time...2 cupcakes worth of a good time.

During the race the girls lined up along the track and waited for their race.  Each car races 4 times, and they rotate to each track.  The best average time out of the four races is the winner.  Although they were not keeping score, and no trophies were given, Andra's car did win her race.

After the race the girls ate cupcakes and got their Powder Puff participation patches.

Here is a video of Andie's car winning one of the races.
